Their Story
Matthew and Dormeka met as students at Grambling State University and built a life around two callings that never stopped overlapping: teaching and ministry. Years in classrooms shaped the way they pastor. They believe people grow when they are taught patiently, given real tools, and trusted with responsibility. That conviction sits underneath everything at Zion City.

The Call to Lancaster
Lancaster was not a strategy. It was an assignment. God kept drawing their attention to this city, its families, its schools, its neighborhoods, and its future. They planted here because they believe a healthy church changes the spiritual and practical climate of the place it is planted in.

The Vision
Zion City exists to be an altar in the city. A gathering place where people meet God honestly, learn the Word carefully, pray with expectation, and are sent back into their daily lives carrying His authority. We are building people, not just services.

Why Zion City
Zion speaks of the dwelling place of God. City speaks of the people and territory He sends us to. Together they describe what we are after: the presence of God at home in a real place, changing homes, streets, and generations in Lancaster and far beyond it.

Family + Ministry
Marriage, Home,and Calling
Matthew and Dormeka are graduates of Grambling State University, educators, and parents of five children. Their home is the first place their ministry is tested, and it shapes how Zion City cares for marriages and families through the Whole Heart Marriage Ministry.

Pastor Matthew
Pastor Matthew is a fourth-generation leader, educator, author, teacher of the Word, inventor, creator, husband, and father. He leads Zion City with a teacher's patience and a builder's instinct, giving people language for what God is doing and practical steps to walk it out.
Alongside Dormeka, he carries a burden for Lancaster families and for a generation of believers who know how to pray, study, worship, and serve their city well.
